Water Filtration Systems
Water Filters are relatively inexpensive and improve the overall taste of your tap water as well as the smell, and appearance. Many filters will also remove some harmful chemicals found in your drinking water. Currently there isn't a better way of ensuring your drinking water and cooking water is as healthy as possible for you and your family.
There are numerous types of water filtration systems on the market, so take the time and read the product information so that you will purchase the type of filter for your needs. Depending on the type of water filter you choose to install, they can be extremely effective in removing specific substances. Some filters are more specific than others are and more effective. We can assist in helping you choose the type that best fits your needs.
Tankless Water Heaters
Tankless Water Heaters are becoming increasingly popular for many reasons. First, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 signed on February 17, 2009, by President Obama has made significant changes to homeowner tax credits for specified energy-efficient home improvements including qualifying, residential water heaters. Some of the more significant changes include the extension of the tax credit through 2010 and the increase in the total available tax credit from 10% to 30%.
Homeowners who purchase and install a qualifying tankless water heater between Jan. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2010 will now be eligible for a tax credit equal to 30% of the full purchase and installation price up to a maximum of $1500.
Tankless units are more efficient than storage tank models - you can shave as much as 20 percent from your water heating bill . Since tankless heaters heat water as it flows, you'll never run out of hot water. Tankless heaters also last five to ten years longer than a storage tank model. Electric models don't produce greenhouse gases, and there's no possibility of flooding due to a ruptured tank. Tankless water heaters do require yearly maintenance to avoid larger problems in the future.
High Efficiency Home Heating, Water Heating
Heating equipment is typically the largest energy user in the home. If a natural gas furnace or boiler is more than 20 years old, it is probably running very inefficiently compared to today's models. One way to help offset the rising cost of energy and significantly reduce heating costs is to replace an old furnace or boiler with new high-efficiency heating equipment. In fact, a new furnace or boiler can save up to 30% of your heating energy use.
Rebates up to $1300 are available through GasNetworks for heating equipment that meets qualifications.
Connecting an in-direct fired water heater to an existing forced hot water heating system is one of the most efficient ways of heating hot water. Great rebates are also available for these systems. Call us today to see if your heating system is compatible.
We offer a number of Energy Star qualified appliances and equipment that will not only help save the environment, but if you choose to install, will help you qualify for some great rebate savings from GasNetworks and your local gas company. Call us to find out more!
Air Conditioners
Without regular maintenance an air conditioner looses about 5% of it's original efficiency for each year of operation. This means that the 12 SEER unit that you bought just a few years ago may be functioning like a 9 SEER unit today! The good news is that you can recover most of that lost efficiency through regular maintenance. Studies show that with regular tune-ups a unit will maintain up to 95% of it's original efficiency. This means that the cost of an annual tune-up is recovered very quickly in savings on your monthly electric bill and reduced repair costs. A properly serviced air conditioner will also do a better job of dehumidifying your home.
Oil Burner Maintenance
An oil burner should be cleaned, checked, and adjusted every year before the winter comes. You should call a professional serviceman to come out to your house on a yearly basis.
Gas Fireplaces
There are lots of great reasons to add a gas fireplace to your home:
- Reliable and easy to control, you can turn on your gas fireplace with the push of a button and even sometimes by remote. Most even come with timers, so that you can control the amount of time your fire burns.
- Easy installation if you already have a fireplace. Most gas fireplaces come as inserts that can fit into your old firebox. Un-vented gas fireplaces don't not need a chimney and can be installed easily into any room in the house. Vented gas fireplaces use your chimney to expel waste products and do best when fitted into a firebox.
- 70% of heat can remain in the house instead of being lost up the chimney. You can even control the amount of heat that enters the room by turning the fan on or off.
You don't have to take the time to build a fire or clean up the ash in order to enjoy your fireplace. At Jim Dorsey and Son, we offer professional installation to ensure your complete enjoyment of your new fireplace.
